Ask almost anybody and I am sure they will happily tell you that network marketing or MLM certainly does not have the best reputation. In fact, almost everybody you ask want to throw up on you when you even mention multi-level marketing. The $64,000 question is…. why do people hate something they know so little about?

I’ve often marvelled at why so many people have such a to the network marketing industry, and I actually find it rather entertaining. Post a video on Youtube about multilevel network marketing and it’s only a matter of minutes before someone posts an extremely negative comment on it. Talk to your family and friends about what you’re doing and you’re bound to see them roll their eyes.

What’s the story? Why are these people so negative? Fear, plain and simple. People always fear what they just don’t understand. They also fear things that are out of the norm and normal people have jobs. For many people working a multi level marketing business, without the guarantee of a steady paycheck is very, very different and that can scare the livin’ daylights out of some people.

Many people won’t do a thing because they are deathly afraid of even the possibility of losing money or getting into an immoral that ruthlessly ruins their reputation. However, the reality is that most companies today are very inexpensive to start up.

Part of that is because almost all Multi-Level-Marketing opportunities can be built on the internet. People don’t need brochures or flip charts as much as they once did, and that means you can get going for considerably less because you wont have as much in your starter kit.

When you talk about the investment involved to begin your new MLM business you’re normally talking about a few hundred dollars. A good chunk of change sure, but not a immense life altering investment. Certainly nothing like the amount of money it would cost to start your own brick and mortar business enterprise which can cost tens or hundreds of thousands, or more.

However, it is the start up cost in addition to the incredible lack of knowledge of exactly what an MLM business really is that frightens off so many people.

It also doesn’t help, that many people know somebody who has been in MLM and didn’t make a dime. Still, you have to remember that in some cases the reason someone bombed in the business isn t necessarily the fault of the business. Sometimes the person who joined the business is to blame because they weren’t willing to do what was required to enjoy success. Often times we only have ourselves to blame. That might not make people very happy to hear but it’s the truth.

Explain to me, how can one person join a company and claim that the business is a ripoff and another person can join the same company at the very same time with the same exact products and become a millionaire? Obviously, it can’t just be the company. The individual who didn’t make any money needs to look in the mirror to see who is to blame.

When all is said and done there are many reasons why people might be a little skittish or disbelieving about MLM however, when you really break it down there isn t much to be apprehensive of at all. MLM works for those who are willing to work for it. The negative stamp might always remain but MLM is helping people make more money, work from home and live a better life, no matter what anyone else believes.
